Sarah Delivers Australia’s First Household Care Home
Healthia Residential Care Home is ACH Group’s first purpose-built small household care home; the first care home in Australia to implement the innovative US-founded Green House Project model of care.
Buildings designed under this model are focused on maximising independence of residents, empowering staff, and supporting older people to live good lives.
Sarah Constructions was selected by ACH Group to deliver the project of this kind outside of the United States, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.
After 12 months working collaboratively with ACH and its consultants in an Early Contractor Involvement or ECI planning phase, Sarah’s team successfully delivered the full scope of design and construction works, including landscaping and carparking.
Healthia’s village-like setting is small and domestic, and features eight single-story houses, each home to 12 residents with their own bedrooms and ensuite and access to thoughtfully landscaped gardens.
Each of the eight homes includes a light-filled open-plan kitchen, and elegant dining and living spaces, and a central shared building offers a range of health, well-being and social services including a gymnasium, activity hall and hairdresser.
Sarah’s team has visited residents post construction and Project Manager Luke Ferme was pleased to receive positive feedback:
“ACH’s innovative model is providing residents with a unique lifestyle and high quality of care, and it is rewarding for our project team to hear how the spaces are being enjoyed by residents and staff.”
Based on the high-quality of work, UniSA also engaged Sarah to fitout its integrated health clinic, located above Healthia’s central building.
