A Modular Makeover for Magill

Magill School is set in a natural environment against the Eastern Foothills of Adelaide.

In 2022 Sarah Constructions was engaged by Head Contractor Sensum to provide the students and staff with a $7M upgrade including:

  • Construction of two new buildings with unique architectural features providing general learning areas, breakout spaces, withdrawal and wet areas
  • Refurbishment of a portion of an existing building providing general learning areas, breakout spaces, withdrawal and wet areas, staff and student amenities, teacher preparation space and storage, and
  • External works including a car park upgrade and a new paved entry pathway.

After completion of the new buildings and with the students in their 12 new classrooms and shared learning environments, Sarah managed the demolition of three aged classrooms ready for a new playground.

The project’s challenges included the requirement to seamlessly append new infrastructure with an existing building and designing new buildings with a view to future school growth.

Sarah’s team worked collaboratively with the School’s staff, the Department for Education, Sensum and the project’s consultants to meet all project aspirations on time and within budget.

The new modern, innovative, and light-filled facilities are now providing the school’s 800 students and staff with world-leading educational facilities including assistive technology for hearing impaired students.
