St Peter's College Adelaide, Big Quad Redevelopment

Buildability – highly complex structural requirements were necessary in order to deliver engineering needs around the existing heritage buildings. This involved brainstorming and collaborating with the project engineer, temporary engineer and our subcontractors to determine the best approach to allow the new works without compromising the existing structure.

Fulfillment of intent – Excellent communication and stakeholder management was required to successfully deliver this highly complex build. This included liaising with stakeholders, consultants and the School Board in order to manage and maintain all expectations

Latent conditions – Two main latent conditions were identified at the beginning of the works: shallow footings and contaminated soil. The shallow footings resulted in extensive underpinning, with a high focus on time and QA. The contaminated soil required dedicated methodology and consultants to manage the time and cost implications.

High-quality finishes. The client was thrilled with the caliber of the project, in particular the high-quality finishes for the Big School Room timber archway, which has breathed life back into a previously underutilised space. Further distinguishing the leyline through the school.

Modernising existing spaces. The client was impressed with our ability to modernise previously outdated and dark spaces and transform them into state-of-the-art facilities.

Sarah’s approach. A strong relationship was fostered early on, built on mutual respect and trust, allowing a highly successful project outcome for all involved. The project required collaboration and teamwork, which was evident across all stages of the build.
